The Fake News Olympics was a way for us to create our own home page websites in groups and agree on what red flags to use in order for another group to revise our work and pick up on those red flags.
Red flags are the things you notice on an article that would make it seem less professional or reliable. For example, on the article we created our headline is in all caps with an exclamation point at the end. Typically, one should avoid citing information from an article with a headline like that. My contributions to this piece was writing the article itself about the White House banning all major news outlets from attending press briefings. My intentions with this story was to write something believable and similar to something that really did happen and was reported on. I also suggested to include the advertisements on the right column in order to show that the website has a biased based on the content it posts. |
